Permanent disability and critical illness riders are gaining currency these days. A permanent disability cover comes handy when the policyholder is rendered totally incapable of being employed or engaged in any work or any occupation, or when s/he loses both hands, feet, or eyes, or a combination of any of these. Also, a disability is considered permanent when it lasts for a continuous period of 180 days.
